Hsu Residence / BEtween

回應建築外觀闡述「之間」的概念，從視線及感受出發。半透明的材料運用，賦予視線在透與不透之間多了另一道層次，在內與外之間添上一條若有似無的界線，讓公私領域不被明確地區分。四片半穿透屏風的存在，以及地面的高低落差，賦予整個開放空間一種模糊的界定，隱約暗示了領域間的轉換，同時也回應了「之間」的概念。客製的實心壓克力燈具和漂浮的旋轉鏡，也延續了概念的傳達。抑制空間過多的裝飾以減少視覺衝擊，傳達安靜內斂的氛圍，讓室外的景色、光線作為空間最具視覺感受的材料運用。

In response to the concept of “between” presented by the architecture, we have designed a space that emphasizes sight and feeling. The use of translucent materials to create an invisible divide between indoors and outdoors adds another layer of visual interest, blurring the boundary between public and private. The use of translucent screens and the difference in floor height give the space an ambiguous boundary, implying a transition between different spaces. Custom-made solid acrylic lamps and floating, rotating mirrors further communicate the concept of “between.” Excessive decoration has been kept to a minimum to convey a tranquil, restrained atmosphere. The natural scenery and light from the outdoors are the main sources of visual interest in the space.
